Instructions

Prepare the Mixture:

  • Start by boiling the corn kernels. In a mixing bowl, combine the corn kernels, mashed potato grated cheese, all purpose flour, garlic paste, red pepper flakes, dried herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix everything thoroughly until you have a sticky mixture that holds together well.

Form the Balls:

  • Take small portions of the mixture and roll them between your palms to form uniform balls. If the mixture feels too sticky, dampen your hands slightly with water to ease the rolling process. Aim for evenly sized balls to ensure even cooking.
  • Spread the breadcrumbs on a plate and roll these ball onto it. Make sure to do this step right before the frying or baking or the breadcrumbs turn soggy resulting in soggy exterior instead of a crispy texture.

Choose Your Cooking Method:

  • For Frying: Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the corn cheese balls into the oil. Fry them in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan, until they turn golden brown and crispy on all sides. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
  • For Baking: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the corn cheese balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are evenly spaced. Lightly brush the balls with oil to help them brown. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • For Air Frying: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the corn cheese balls in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Cook for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure even crisping. Once done, carefully remove the balls from the air fryer basket.

Serve and Enjoy:

  • Whether you’ve fried, baked, or air fried your corn cheese balls, they’re now ready to be enjoyed! Serve them hot alongside your favorite dipping sauce or as they are for a delightful snack or appetizer.
